Rams post season-high 2,356.9; Sookhoo closes strong to win Game 4 individual as Fall slate ends

The 2025 - 2026 National Intercollegiate Rifle League concluded its fourth and final Fall match in standing air rifle, where each athlete fires 60 shots in decimal and team scores combine the top four shooters. University of Rhode Island recorded a season-high 2,356.9 behind a balanced four-count, while Georgia Military College’s MacKenzie Sookhoo secured the individual at 618.5, edging Sophia Wood at 615.0. Individually, Sookhoo leads the season averages at 616.2, followed by Sophia Wood at 605.7, Cheyenne Malone at 599.7, Alex Travison at 587.2 and Skylar Sanford at 585.5. In the team table by average, Georgia Military College is first at 2,297.7, with University of Rhode Island second at 2,254.6.

Game 4 Team Event Recap

University of Rhode Island paced Game 4 with 2,356.9, the league’s best team total this season. The Rams’ four-count featured Sophia Wood at 615.0, supported by Emily Lopez at 589.0, Alex Travison at 588.7 and Carly Albanese at 564.2. Coach David Wood’s lineup delivered steady production across the card.

Georgia Military College finished at 1,211.0 while competing with two athletes rather than the standard four. Sookhoo led the Bulldogs at 618.5, and Sanford added 592.5 for Coach Lisa Kelly.

Individual Event Highlights

Sookhoo topped the individual standings with 618.5, followed by Sophia Wood at 615.0 and Sanford at 592.5. Lopez was in the early mix for third before Sanford moved ahead in the closing stages.

Wood set the pace through 40 shots with strings of 103.8, 102.5, 102.5 and 102.0, leading by 1.3 after the first series and 0.4 after the fourth as Sookhoo posted 102.5, 101.1, 104.1 and 102.7. Sookhoo took control in the fifth 10-shot series with a 104.8 and closed with 103.3, while Sophia Wood finished 101.5 and 102.7 over the final two strings to complete the match 3.5 points back. Sanford’s 99.7 and 98.9 in the last two strings secured third at 592.5.

League Format and Schedule

The National Intercollegiate Rifle League is a national team league for collegiate rifle clubs. Each athlete fires 60 shots scored in decimal; the team score is the sum of the top four shooters. The regular season features two parts — four games in the fall and four in the winter/spring — with competitions held every two weeks. The top three teams in the overall standings at season’s end will receive awards.
