Standing score lifts Eaton past Murphy for 3x10 win
Mason Eaton turned the August 2026 - Scopos' 3 Position 3x10 Air Rifle Virtual Match in the final position, using a 91.0 in Standing to move past Austin Murphy and win the 10m Air Rifle event with a final score of 283.3. The final standings, listed from Manassas, Virginia, included 113 entries in the virtual match conducted Aug. 1-31.
Eaton, of Cocoa, Florida, finished 1.5 points ahead of Murphy, of Booneville, Mississippi, who placed second with 281.8. Pari Patel, of Bensalem, Pennsylvania, took third with 275.5, while Aytana Crespo, of West Palm Beach, Florida, was fourth at 273.4.
Murphy set the early standard, posting the top listed scores in both Kneeling with 96.5 and Prone with 102.1. He led after Kneeling by 1.1 points over Crespo and stretched that advantage over Crespo to 5.7 points through Prone, but Standing changed the match.
Eaton’s 91.0 was the highest listed Standing score and proved decisive in a position that is typically the most difficult in three-position rifle. Murphy’s 83.2 in Standing left the door open, and Eaton finished the course at 283.3 to complete the late move for the win.
