Rest API Access

Babelfish

Scopos maintains an open-source NuGet package called Babelfish, designed for .NET developers in the shooting sports. BabelFish provides programmatic access to Scopos’s REST API, unlocking both publicly available match data and protected data for authenticated users. With BabelFish, developers gain access to Scopos’s comprehensive data model for the shooting sports, including matches, competitors, scores, and result lists, as well as the Reconfigurable Rulebook definition files. BabelFish also includes classes for Scopos’ Result List Formatter and Result Engine, enabling dynamic formatting of results and competitor ranking.

BabelFish empowers a wide range of users:

  • Clubs can dynamically display Orion match results on their websites.
  • Governing bodies can automatically read results from sanctioned matches.
  • Coaches can build apps to track their athletes’ progress.
  • EST manufacturers can submit scores directly from their systems into Orion matches.

Scopos itself uses BabelFish internally within Orion and Rezults, underscoring its maturity and versatility. Examples of BabelFish in action are available in the Scopos Labs GitHub repository, including for match lookups, score histories, definition files, and shot input.

Documentation is available at babelfish.scopos.tech, with installation instructions and REST API references provided online. To use BabelFish, developers must obtain an X-API-Key.
Free rate limited keys are available for Orion for Clubs customers, individuals, and students for personal or academic use. Application developers may apply for an annual license; currently Scopos is offering these licenses at no cost, with pricing to be introduced in the future.

BabelFish is open source and licensed under Apache 2.0. Scopos welcomes contributions from the developer community. The project is hosted on GitHub at https://github.com/shooterstech/BabelFish.

Stay Updated with Improvements

Scopos sends out email newsletters with updates to their programmatic access, the notices are also available online. These email are sent about once a month. To join the distribution list, or view past newsletters, visit https://groups.google.com/a/scopos.tech/g/developer-news.

For Assistance

Programmatic assistance with Scopos' BabelFish, REST API, or scopos-labs examples are not included with either an Orion or Athena license. Instead, for community support, submit an issue on the BabelFish or scopos-labs GitHub repository page as appropriate.
