Modern competitions demand live results. With Orion it is easy to automatically put your competition results online; spectators quickly become engaged as your competition unfolds. However, simply turning on online results is of no value to your spectators if they don’t know how to find those results for themselves. This month’s Get the Most Out of Your Orion Scoring System is all about the three types of QR codes Orion and Rezults can generate for you, letting your spectators follow your competition from their mobile phones.

The ease and importance of using QR codes can not be understated. By posting the QR codes in conspicuous places, such as the range door or next to the sitting area, spectators will intuitively know where to find live competition results. And since every modern smart phone can read QR codes from their camera, simply by opening the camera app and clicking the “open” button, spectators are instantly aware of your results.

QR Codes on Rezults' Leaderboard

For ranges that have a TV or projector they can use Rezults’ Leaderboard. Rezults’ Leaderboard automatically displays the current relay’s competitors’ scores in an easy-to-follow format, letting spectators see who is playing, who is winning, and by how much. As a bonus, the leaderboard displays the Match specific QR code (see below) every 12 minutes, giving spectators time to scan the code and view the results on their own phones. 

Rezults’ Leaderboard is available for any Match that has not started yet, is in progress, or whose results are unofficial.

• On Rezults open the match page using a desktop browser. Click the “Leaderboard” link on the left to view the leaderboard.
• Try hitting F11 to make your browser full-screen for added real-estate.

Match-Specific QR Codes

Match-specific QR Codes are, as the name suggests, single-use QR codes for one competition. When scanned, they take the spectator directly to the match’s results. The advantage is their direct access to the results. The disadvantage is you have to print them each time you host a match.

Match specific QR codes can be generated both inside Orion and on Rezults. 

• Inside Orion with the Match open, from the menu bar click on Rezults > Generate QR Code.
• On Rezults open the match page, then click the QR code icon near the top right of the header.

Club-Specific QR Codes

Club-specific QR Codes point to your Club’s (a “Club” is a synonym for an Orion Account) home page on Rezults. Whenever you host a Match, Rezults will automatically (after you start shooting) include a link to your Match page at the top of your Club page. With a Club-specific QR code you may print the QR code once and use it for all of your matches. The only drawback is the spectator has to tap on the match name after they open the club page.

Club specific QR codes can be generated currently only through Rezults.

• On Rezults open your Club page, then click the QR code icon near the top right of the header.
