Orion Scoring System Jan 2026

Modern sports demand live results. If you are hosting a competition athletes, coaches, and spectators will positively remember your match when they can view continuously updated results. Wait until the end to post results, and they will remember your match as antiquated.

Thankfully, with Orion, regardless of your scoring technology, spectators can be treated to a leaderboard on premise, online, and on their phones. The key is knowing how to continuously feed Orion with scores. This month’s get the most out of your Orion Scoring System newsletter is all about the different automated technologies to inject scores into Orion so results are always shared as shots are scored.

Athena

Orion’s integration with Athena makes it seamless to upload scores. When a match is created and pushed out to an Athena range, Orion instinctively knows to record shots as they are scored from each Athena target. There is no special set up or configuration.

Many Orion customers with MegaLink systems know they can import scores from MLRange. Few however know they can import scores continuously after each shot is fired. The key is configuring MLRange, in their “Event” form, to export after each shot.

Kongsberg

Kongsberg is the latest EST manufacturer to add support for sending scores to Orion. Kongsberg customers can configure their eScore application to export scored shots to Orion. Instructions available from Kongsberg documentation.

SIUS

SIUS customers can use Orion to connect to SIUSData to instantly receive scores after each shot is fired. The key is to start the interface before you start shooting.

Paper Targets

Shooting on paper targets still presents a time delay, as targets can not be scored until they are physically collected. Attentive stat officers will however scan and score paper targets as they are turned in. For example, in a three-position match, this would mean scoring targets after kneeling (while athletes are shooting prone), prone (while athletes are shooting standing), and standing (as athletes are packing up their gear).

Literally Any Other Scoring System

Scopos offers programmatic access to send scores to an Orion match through our REST API. This makes it possible for any scoring system to use Orion’s match management and result list system. Scopos even offers a NuGet package and examples on how to program such an application.

Thanks to Scopos, the shooting sports are modernizing. It is now possible for any match to have continuously updated leaderboards displayed on premise, online, and on your phone. We shared the different technologies Scopos offers making this a reality.

Next time you are at a match that waits until after shooting is done to post results, kindly ask the Match Director to upgrade their technology – the shooting sports deserve better and Scopos has the solutions.
