Participating in competitions gives participants of any activity incentive to practice, improve, and have fun. This holds true for both new and experienced shooters. Competitions of any size, whether it be a national-level league, or a backyard competition for fun, can provide benefits to all involved in ways that can't be found anywhere else.
In our coaches follow-up survey from the 2024 New Shooter and Air Pistol Leagues, over 90% of coaches said participating in the Leagues motivated their teams to practice more, and 100% said participating helped their teams to improve. A significant number of teams in the New Shooter League used the score improvement criteria to earn medals at the conclusion of the Leagues.
Taking up an activity involving friends, competition, awards, and fun can seem much more attractive than taking up that same activity alone, particularly for junior marksmen looking to get involved. In our coaches follow-up survey, 86% reported that participating in the League helped their team to recruit new members.
As recruiting and retaining members is a necessary part of any club, it is important to have ways to promote your club and its activities for recruiting, funding, and more. In our coaches follow-up survey, over 75% of coaches said that participating in the Leagues helped to promote their team, and marksmanship as a sport in general, to outside spectators and the media. Advertising your team’s accomplishments in competition gives participants something to aim for, and the engagement inspires interest from spectators.
Orion users are familiar with the ability to create matches, but Orion also extends the same power to anyone that Scopos uses to run our National Leagues. To learn more about creating your own virtual matches and leagues, view our support documentation.
