Week 3 marked the end of the random scheduling of prior weeks, and from here on out teams will be squadded against other similarly skilled teams. This will mean more close games with either team having a chance to earn the win each week.
The Sporter League saw a bit more mixing of the top 10 than the Precision League. Returning champs Jack C. Hays MCJROTC moved their way into the top spot and several new teams entered the top 10. The Precision League top 3 stayed cool with some impressive scores all around, though two of the top three have byes this week. To see the standings as of week four, click below.
In a close matchup, Kauai High School took home the dubs against Fontana by 3.4 points. Interestingly, Kauai High School and some other Hawaii-based teams are some of the very few teams competing in the League who shoot outdoors (see the cover photo for reference). They certainly don't seem to be disadvantaged, sitting in a cool 7th place just ahead of Kelly Walsh MCJROTC.
In week three's closest matchup, Pascagoula defeated Lebanon by just 0.2 points. Their win moves them up into 10th place in the Sporter League. This week they will face off against NJROTC rivals Ramona NJROTC.
Zion Benton moves into the #2 spot in the Sporter League after a matchup against Webb City AJROTC. They are in tight competition with returning champs Jack C. Hays MCJROTC, being just .07 League Points behind and only 0.1 behind in average score. This week they will shoot against Kelly Walsh MCJROTC.
Lafayette Gun Club recorded their 2nd win of the season against Marion AJROTC. Their score this week adds them as the 4th team averaging over 2400 in Precision after week 3. This is higher than their ending average score in the 2023 National Air Rifle League. They sit in 4th place going into week 4.
