The National Air Rifle League commenced last week with 152 teams. The season started much where it left off last season, with the top teams from last season posting some impressive early season scores.
The first two weeks of the league are highlighted by a random schedule, with an emphasis on inter-conference play, allowing teams that may never have competed against each other to meet. Results of these inter-conference games will play an important role in determining the eventual conference winners, determined by their collective regular season results. Zion Benton NJROTC, the top team during the regular season last year, laid down an 1169.9 in their first game and is on top of the Sporter standings. Last year’s Tournament champion, Jack C Hays MCJROTC, got their first win of the season and is in second place. The Sporter Invitational Tournament champion from 2023, Norview NJROTC, is in third place.
The runner up last year, Granbury MCJROTC, starts this year on top of the standings, after their week one win. The two semi-finalists from last season, Everett Sportsman Junior Rifle Club and American Legion Post 295 are second and third respectively. Delilah Muzik helped propel American Legion Post 295 to the win after she shot her personal best in league play.
