The 2025 National Air Rifle New Shooter and Air Pistol Leagues completed their second week, and now most teams have shot their first match. In the New Shooter League, Fontana MCJROTC took over the top spot, while in the Air Pistol League, last year's champions NoVA Sharpshooters took the lead after their first match.
Beginning in Week 3, teams are no longer randomly matched, but will be matched based on their previous performance. There are a number of new teams to the League this year with impressive scores, so both Leagues should be very interesting to watch how the top teams develop.
Last year's Air Pistol champions NoVA Sharpshooters came out strong in their first match this season, defeating Cos Cob Revolver and Rifle Club in Week 2. Both of these teams entered into the League this week with strong scores, Cos Cob having been defeated by only 11 points with a 2181-39. NoVA Sharpshooters will take the lead for this week, with Cos Cob in second, and Lafayette Gun Club in third place.
Mountain Home NJROTC collected their first win against Clark AFJROTC last week. Mountain Home has several athletes taking advantage of our Athletes statistic tab on our National League pages. We encourage athletes and coaches to take a look and consider signing up for an account on Rezults to start tracking your scores. For more information on this feature, read our article here. This week, Mountain Home will shoot against Vilseck AJROTC.
Martin Luther King NJROTC won their second match of the season last week when they defeated Leavenworth AJROTC by 5.3 points. They move down into fourth place this week, with Marcos de Niza AJROTC taking the third place spot. MLK NJROTC will shoot against them this week to challenge for the top 3 again.
