2024 National Air Rifle New Shooter and Air Pistol League: Week Six Recap

Week six of the 2024 Scopos National New Shooter and Air Pistol Leagues was perhaps less eventful than previous weeks, with very little movement in the top spots in both Leagues. Notably, Jack C. Hays MCJROTC shot the highest score so far of the 2024 New Shooter League with a 1111.2, the only score over 1100. NoVA Sharpshooters equally shot the highest Air Pistol score of the season, with a 2221.

James Madison AJROTC Defeats Ramona NJROTC

James Madison AJROTC securely stayed in 2nd place after week 6, defeating Ramona NJROTC. James Madison shot their second highest score of the season last week, a 1055.8. All of the top 3 teams in the New Shooter League are yet undefeated. This week, James Madison will have a bye and Ramona will face West Forsyth AJROTC.

Zion Benton NJROTC Outperforms C.T. Johnson AJROTC

Zion Benton NJROTC held onto 5th place last week after defeating C.T. Johnson AJROTC in week 6. With a record of 3-2 now, Zion Benton has consistently improved their score nearly every week of the League, shooting their highest in week 5 of 1061. This week, Zion Benton will meet with Mariner AJROTC and C.T. Johnson will have a bye week.

Lewisville AJROTC Bests SH Rider AJROTC

In an AJROTC matchup last week, Lewisville defeated SH Rider to earn their fourth win of the season. Lewisville also shot their highest score of the season, besting their previous by nearly 6 points. This week, Lewisville will compete against Georgetown NJROTC and SH Rider will have a bye week.

Palmyra Sportsmen’s Association Defeats Michigan Junior Distinguished Pistol Team

Palmyra Sportsmen’s Association maintained their hold on 3rd place in the Air Pistol League last week, defeating Michigan Junior Distinguished Pistol Team in week 6. This match was Palmyra’s third win of the season so far. This week, Palmyra will face off against 5th place team Grand Rapids Rifle & Pistol Club, while Michigan Junior Distinguished Pistol Team will have a bye week.
