Week 8 had a dash more excitement than the previous two weeks in the New Shooter League. The second and third place teams both won their matches, with the latter defeating the current first place team in the New Shooter League. Several teams dropped out of the top 10, and new ones joined. Multiple teams in the top spots are separated by just a few points or less. The Air Pistol League held steady with the top four teams all winning their matches.

In the Air Pistol League, Lafayette Gun Club collected their 4th win in a row, and 5th win overall, last week against South County Rod and Gun Club. Lafayette currently sits steadily in second place. This week, Lafayette will square up against current first place NoVA Sharpshooters for the second time this season. Their previous match was a close call where NoVA edged out a win by only 1 point.
In the most notable game of the New Shooter League last week, third place James Madison AJROTC defeated the current leader, Jack C. Hays MCJROTC, 1078 to 1075.8. James Madison is one of only two New Shooter League teams who have managed to stay undefeated so far, with a 6 - 0 record currently. This week James Madison will defend against C.T. Johnson AJROTC and Jack C. Hays will shoot against Zion Benton NJROTC.
In week 8 of the New Shooter League, C.T. Johnson AJROTC shot their best score so far at a 1067.3, using it to defeat Lewisville AJROTC. C.T. Johnson currently has a record of 5 - 2, and will put it to the test against James Madison AJROTC this week. This will be C.T. Johnson’s final match of the season due to their bye week in week 10.
Another team who shot their best score of the season, Caney Creek NJROTC outdid Mountain View MCJROTC with a 1030.8. They also used this score to move their way into the top 10 of the New Shooter League, swapping places with Norview NJROTC. This week they will have to contend for the top ten against Norview. Mountain View will face Hereford MCJROTC this week.
