2024 National Air Rifle New Shooter and Air Pistol League: Second Week Results

The second week of the National New Shooter and Air Pistol Leagues is now complete, and almost all teams have shot their first match. In the New Shooter League, the top 5 teams have some very close placings, with 3rd through 5th place separated by only 1 point each. In the Air Pistol League, the top 3 are still in close competition, all over 2100.

The second week was highlighted by a random schedule once again. Starting this week, teams will match up against others at a similar level, possibly leading to even more close matches. To see the current standings of both leagues, see the links below.

NoVA Sharpshooters Enter With a Strong Yet Slim Start Against Lafayette Gun Club

2023 Air Pistol League winners NoVA Sharpshooters took the lead in their first match of the season last week, facing fellow Virginia team, Lafayette Gun Club. The match was won by only 1 point, 2136 - 2135. This week, NoVA Sharpshooters will face Michigan Distinguished Junior Pistol Team.

Stony Point High School Holds Off C.T. Johnson AJROTC for Their Second Win

Stony Point High School moves into 3rd place in the New Shooter League this week, after defeating C.T. Johnson AJROTC by 10 points. Stony Point High School sits only 1 point ahead of Saint Thomas Academy. Places 3 through 5 have average scores separated by just 1 point going into week 3. Stony Point will have the next 2 weeks off as byes.

Ramona NJROTC Defeats Royal MCJROTC

Ramona NJROTC, from Ramona, CA, took their 2nd win of the season against Royal MCJROTC, along with a decent improvement in score. Ramona currently sits in 7th place, but still close behind James Madison AJROTC and Mariner AJROTC. Ramona will have the next 2 weeks off as byes also.

Placings Begin to Take Shape in Week 3

This week will begin skill-based matchmaking according to teams' performance so far this season. We can expect to see some stiff competition and interesting games in top teams, especially with several from each league having only shot 1 match so far. Jack C. Hays is one to watch, vying to be the first team to win both the National Air Rifle Sporter League and the New Shooter League in the same season.
