2024 National Air Rifle League Championship - Zion Benton NJROTC Wins Sporter, Granbury MCJROTC Wins Precision

After three months of competition, the National Air Rifle League Champions have been crowned. In the Sporter League, Zion Benton NJROTC wins after defeating North Brunswick AJROTC in the championship game. In the Precision League, Granbury MCJROTC wins after defeating Everett Sportsman Junior Rifle Club in their championship game.

Both of these teams have now won multiple National Air Rifle League Championships. 

Sporter League Championship

The Sporter League champion, Zion Benton NJROTC, finished the 2024 season with a perfect 9 - 0 record. In their championship game they defeated North Brunswick AJROTC 2302.3 to 2286.3. They were led by Gianna Gomez, who shot a 585.9.  The remaining contributing members were Brianna Benedetto, Addyson Gustafson, Brayden Rich, and Katelynn Emerson. Zion Benton NJROTC is from Zion, IL and coached by Dan Hackstein.

To earn their championship, Zion Benton finished the regular season with a 6 - 0 record which earned them the second seed in the tournament, behind only last year's champions, Jack C. Hays MCJROTC. 

In the championship tournament, Zion Benton won their quarterfinal game versus Ramona NJROTC, then scored a victory over Norview NJROTC, leading to the title game where they defeated North Brunswick. Zion Benton is now one of only 2 Sporter teams to have won multiple League Championships, the other being in 2019. They were runners up in 2016 and 2021. Additionally, Zion Benton holds the impressive record of being the only team to ever win the Navy Champions Division title. They have won this all 9 seasons of the National Air Rifle League. 

The Sporter League Most Valuable Player award goes to Gianna Gomez from Zion Benton NJROTC. She led her team with a 579.6 throughout the Postseason.

Precision League Championship

The Precision League Champion, Granbury MCJROTC achieved somewhat of an upset over Everett Sportsman Junior Rifle Club to take the 2024 title. Both of these teams finished 6 - 1 during the regular season. This same matchup was the only game which Everett lost, in Week 5. After getting their new Athena EST range, Everett saw their scores increase by tens of points in their final weeks, and into the Postseason. In the final game, Granbury was able to best them 2453.0 to 2431.6. 

Granbury MCJROTC was led by Kennedy Wells who shot a 623.5. The remaining contributing members were Viola Allen, Mataya Turner, Caylynn Price, and Renee Sermarini. They are from Granbury, TX and are coached by Lt. Col. Scott Casey.

In the championship tournament, Granbury entered as the first seed. Their quarterfinal game was against East Coweta MCJROTC, and their semifinal game was against Lafayette Gun Club. Granbury has now won the Precision League Championship 4 times, and is one of the winningest teams in National Air Rifle League history. 

The Precision League Most Valuable Player award goes to Viola Allen of Granbury MCJROTC. She led her team with a 619.9 average during the Postseason.

Sporter Invitational Tournament

The Sporter Invitational Tournament title goes to Lafayette Gun Club. In their title game, Lafayette edged out Lebanon AJROTC with a score of 2247.1 to 2233.1. Lafayette ended their season with a total record of 7 - 3. They were led by Alexandra Orr who shot a 588.7. The remaining contributing members were Alanna Greene, Wade Brown, Parker Anderson, and Ayden Lawson. They are from Grafton, VA, and are coached by Mark Teixeira.
