After three months of competition, the National Air Rifle League Champions have been crowned. In the Sporter League, Jack C. Hays MCJROTC wins after defeating Webb City AJROTC in the championship game. In the Precision League, Sutter Union High School wins after defeating Granbury MCJROTC in their championship game.
This was each team’s first National Air Rifle League title.
The Sporter League champion, Jack C. Hays MCJROTC, finished the 2023 season with a 9 - 1 record. In their championship game they defeated Webb City AJROTC 2310.2 to 2271.1. They were led by Shiloh Hargrove, who shot a 581.4. The remaining contributing members were Alexis Guerrero, Brynn Gray, Celeste Guerrero, and Sophia Padilla. Jack C. Hays MCJROTC is from Buda, TX and coached by Donald Wimp.
To earn their championship, Jack C. Hays finished the regular season with a 6 - 1 record and earned the third seed in the tournament. During the regular season they earned wins over fellow Champions Division teams West Valley MCJROTC, Mountain View MCJROTC, Mariner AJROTC, and Pace NJROTC. Their only loss in the regular season was to Webb City AJROTC.
In the championship tournament, Jack C. Hays MCJROTC won their quarterfinal game versus sixth seed Pascagoula NJROTC, then scored an upset victory over second seed Mariner AJROTC, leading to the title game where they defeated fourth seed Webb City AJROTC.
The Sporter League Most Valuable Player award goes to Shiloh Hargrove of Jack C. Hays MCJROTC. She led her team in both the semifinal and finals rounds of competition, and averaged 584.0 throughout the tournament.
The Precision League Champion, Sutter Union High School edged out Granbury MCJROTC 2441.5 to 2424.7 in the title game. Sutter Union High School was led by Marissa Fedora who shot a 613.2. The remaining contributing members were Jadyn Morgan, Savannah Criddle, Lily Miller, and Suhaavie Sandhu. They are from Sutter, CA, and are coached by Allen Jaynes.
Sutter Union High School finished the 2023 season with a 9 - 1 record.
During their regular season Sutter Union High School had a difficult strength of schedule to overcome. They had wins over felled Champions Division teams Everett Sportsman Junior Rifle Club, Granbury MCJROTC, and Sarasota Military Academy, just to name a few. Their only loss in the regular season came to American Legion Post 295 in the fifth week.
In the championship tournament, Sutter Union High School was the number two seed. Their quarterfinal game was against seventh seed Robinson High School, and their semifinal game was against third seed Everett Sportsman Junior Rifle Club.
The Precision League Most Valuable Player award goes to Marissa Fedora of Sutter Union High School. She led her team in both their quarterfinal and final games, with a 615.4 average during the tournament.
The Sporter Invitational Tournament title goes to Norview NJROTC. In their title game, Norview NJROTC edged out South Panola AFJROTC 2223.5 to 2204.4. Their sixth win in a row. Norview NJROTC was led by Quamir Barham who shot a 558.3. The remaining contributing members were Andreyona Smith, NiChawn Paige, and Dy'Ann Jones. They are from Norfolk, VA, and are coached by LCDR Stuart Littlejohn.
Norview NJROTC finishes the 2024 season with a 7 - 3 record. This was their first Sporter Invitational Tournament title.
